During my studies at IDC, as part of miLab, I led an interdisciplinary project team of interactive media, computer science, and psychology majors working on the ideation and development of an IoT project for the transportation industry.
In today’s growing market of shared rides, there is a need for an “ice breaker” creating a more complacent environment for riders. After conducting market research, we took on the development and production of “Cooper”, an interactive musical companion designed to make ride sharing more enjoyable.
Cooper connects to both the driver and passengers Spotify accounts and uses Spotify’s API to create a playlist of songs, artists or genres that all of them love. When passengers step into the car, Cooper greets them with a welcoming gesture and starts playing the playlist while “dancing” according to the rhythm of the music.
In addition to managing the project from start to finish, I was also responsible for Cooper’s hardware and software.
Upon completion of the project, we produced a fully functional prototype, a logo, a website, and a blog for Cooper. Cooper was also featured in Globes Magazine as one of the innovative student projects for 2019.
